Achieving Carbon Neutrality (PAS 2060)
PAS 2060 is a specification for demonstrating carbon neutrality produced and published by the British Standards Institution (BSI). It defines a consistent set of measures and requirements for entities to show that they have achieved net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for a specific subject, such as a product, service, organisation, event or building.

Decarbonisation and net zero

Net zero is the term commonly used to describe a neutral balance between the greenhouse gases (GHGs) produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. This state is also referred to as carbon neutral.

Governments around the world have made commitments to be net zero by specific deadlines:

-
Scotland by 2045 (and 75% by 2030) with a new climate plan being developed for 2026-2040.
-
England & Wales by 2050
-
(England 68% by 2030)
-
(Wales 37% by 2025, 58% by 2030,86% by 2040)
