Do you want to make a real difference in driving the sustainability performance of infrastructure projects, helping clients transition to a zero carbon and carbon positive future?
ECO3 Partnership are looking to recruit a Sustainability Consultant with strong experience in carbon management and integrating sustainability in the design and implementation of building projects. Prior experience in delivering sustainability strategies, low carbon assessment and renewable energy services would be great. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Consultant who will work with our team to deliver our sustainability services, including net zero carbon advisory.
You will provide awesome technical support for our team and work with our clients from many industries, including agriculture, aquaculture, retail, electric vehicles, schools, industrial clients, property, education, business services, leisure, pharmaceutical, charities, manufacturing, renewables, water and energy companies.
The right person will have a passion for, and experience in sustainability and net zero carbon, as well as compliance reporting. Based in Scotland, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with our consultancy and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
You can be based remotely, but the role will include occasional travel to clients’ offices/sites throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support for our existing clients and in house teams in relation to carbon management services, and develop relationships with existing and new clients

Identify, prioritise and manage sustainability characteristics, risks and opportunities for projects and operations.

Develop sustainability strategies, design and management plans.

Work as part of project teams providing pragmatic technical support to influence project development and drive delivery of optimal project sustainability performance
-
Manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on our projects.

Develop and produce compliance reports through precise data analysis
-
Provide advice to clients/ design teams on the most cost-effective and beneficial route to compliance
-
Represent the company and continue to build personal, team and company reputation.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level with a BEng/MSc in an Engineering, Energy, or related field (sustainability/environment related). Be working towards chartered status and/or full or associate membership of a recognised relevant professional body.
You will possess strong sustainability related expertise, a wide range of skill sets and a willingness to become involved in a broad selection of projects. Ideally with TCFD and carbon offsetting experience.
The successful applicant will:

Have an excellent understanding of sustainability, in particular carbon and resource efficiency, in a buildings and infrastructure context. Other transferrable experience will be considered.

Possess strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with our teams.

Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.

Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges in other aspects of our business, including work winning.

Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills.

Have experience of UK sustainability and environmental regulations, guidance and standards.

Familiarity with standards and methods for assessing and reporting on carbon performance of infrastructure projects would also be an advantage.

Able to facilitate workshops (in person and via videoconferencing through Teams/Zoom) with a broad range of stakeholders.
Technical
The range of experience we are looking for is diverse. We have outlined beneficial experience below – though we wouldn’t expect all of these to be addressed:
Providing technical sustainability support to clients in a wide range of areas including:

Renewable feasibility studies

Whole life carbon assessments

Climate adaptation / mitigation strategies

Experience modelling net zero carbon roadmaps

Calculation of energy and carbon emissions from a range of technology types and an ability to undertake gap analysis on input data and resolve issues.

Able to provide advice to clients/ design teams on the most cost-effective and beneficial route to achieve sustainability targets
-
Knowledge on design stage, construction, and in-use stages.
Other skills:
-
Low Carbon Energy Assessor accreditation would be beneficial.

Very competent in Microsoft Excel.

Experience in Python and PowerBi would be beneficial.

Competent in Office applications
-
A good understanding of building physics.
Approach
The context of this work is changing to respond to client demands, so the candidate should be confident in undertaking independent research into sustainability and energy related topics and be able to learn how to use our digital tools.
